African Country Research!

You are going to select an African country in your assigned region and research to create notes to show the Five Themes of Geography and the Elements of Culture of your country.  You will use the LibGuide sources to complete this project. You should include the following in your brochure:

Products:

  • Research Handout- a list of research requirements below- submitted to schoology - see example below (research)
  • Bibliography - in noodletools -  printed out in black and white (research)

Research Requirements:

Location (and Region):

a. Include 1 map to show the relative location of your country in Africa

b. Write a brief caption to tell the region (north, south, etc) where your country is located in Africa and list the names of the countries/bodies of water that border it.

Place:

a. Find 1 picture of a physical characteristic and include a caption.

b. Find 1 picture of a human characteristic  and include a caption.

HEI:

a. Find 1 environmental problem for your country. Add a picture and write a caption.

Movement:

a. Find a picture to show goods or people moving in your country.  Write a caption.

Elements of Culture:

a. Name the 1 main language of your country and give some background.

b. Find 1 greeting you need to know if you are to travel to your country.  Include the english translation.

c. Name 1 holiday that is celebrated in your country. Find a picture and add a caption that describes the holiday.

d. Find 1 type of food for your country. Find a picture and include a caption describing the food.

e. Find 1 gesture in your country and include a caption.

f. Find 1 example of personal appearance of people in your country in a picture. Write a caption.

 

Reminders:

  • Use MLA heading for your research notes.
  • DO NOT COPY AND PASTE INFORMATION FROM ANY OF THE WEBSITES INTO YOUR RESEARCH. YOU MUST PARAPHRASE AND WRITE YOUR OWN FACTS.
  • The notes should be 1-page, double sided, single-spaced typed on 8x11 inch paper.   
  • You will have to use NoodleTools to create a bibliography to cite the sources that you used for the information and the pictures.
